7c villa & winery

The rooms are nice, but dinner service was awful. Communication was poor and there was no customer service. They didn't ask how we wanted our steaks cooked, and even after we told them the steaks were overdone, nothing changed. The chicken was average, and the beef quality didn't compare well with other restaurants we ate at. I'd recommend staying here, just not eating here.

We booked the largest villa for more than 100,000 yen per night. It looks modern and tastefully designed, but that's about the only good thing I can say. Staff made no effort to address how disappointed we were, and their attitude felt like doing as little as possible. We ordered the beef stew in advance, assuming we could also order from the menu that was sitting on our table. Nobody explained that we could order appetizers before the main course arrived. We also waited far too long for the waitress to take our wine order. The room wasn't cleaned even though we asked on arrival, and no one explained the hotel's facilities, including the sauna. We later learned sauna sessions have to be reserved in time slots: 17:30 - 19:00 and 20:00 - 21:30. Dinner is served at 19:30, leaving little time between, which makes no sense. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The Koshū Beef Loin Course at dinner was probably the best steak we've ever had, so tender and juicy that we booked it again. The wine went perfectly with the meal, the breakfast boxes were amazing, and the coffee was just right. The hotel was spotless, quieter and more relaxing than we'd expected, and we didn't want to leave on our first day. The staff were professional, though they didn't have the extra warmth you sometimes get at other Japanese hotels, so keep expectations in check.

I had a rushed booking, so dinner at c7 wasn't possible. They still made sure I had plenty to eat, with a snack platter and some nice wines during my stay. The villa is on the far side of the lake, slightly off to the side, in a nice area. My room was spacious, with a calming view of the garden, and the quiet surroundings made it feel relaxing.
