Fuji Kawaguchiko Resort Hotel

The staff were wonderful and spoke English well. We stayed two nights with family in December and especially liked the view facing Mount Fuji. The hotel shuttle runs regularly between the property and Kawaguchiko station. Just contact the staff and the driver should arrive promptly. If you’re at the station, the information center can call for you, but it closes at 5 pm. There’s a 7-11 down the road, about an eight-minute walk depending on your pace. We also enjoyed breakfast, especially the salad bar. Give it a try, you won’t regret it.

The futons on the floor weren’t comfortable for me as an American. Still, the room had a Fujisan view, the onsen was very good, and the buffet selection was nice. We booked with breakfast and dinner included. They also offer pick-up and drop-off at Kawaguchiko Station, about a five-minute drive away.

We appreciated the free daily onsen access, the tidy room, and the shuttle to the station. Our family of four had two beds and two ondol futons, plus a peaceful Mount Fuji view from one of the most spacious rooms I’ve had in Japan. Fuji Kawaguchiko Resort is a large property about ten minutes by car from Kawaguchiko Station, where trains and buses to Mt. Fuji are available. It has a mini convenience store, vending machines, indoor and outdoor onsen pools, and a big restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. The main drawback was the same menu each day during our four-day, three-night stay. We did enjoy the Asahi draft beer at dinner, 800 yen per glass, and would be happy to return.

The rooms are spacious and the staff are very helpful. It’s a little far from the station, but you can call them, as I did from the public phone there, and they’ll pick you up in about 5-10 minutes. The shuttle van runs roughly every 30-60 minutes, though I never waited more than ten. I’d book here again if I visit Kawaguchiko.
