The custom dinner made a real impression on us. They prepared a meal without raw fish for my partner, and it was beautifully presented, delicious, and clearly made with care. We stayed 3D2N at Kawaguchiko Onsenji Yumedono, and the room, private onsen, and peaceful atmosphere all added to a memorable visit. The staff were polite, attentive, and thoughtful from the moment we arrived, making us feel welcome the whole time. Thank you to the team for making our time in Fuji so special. We hope to come back.

For the price, this was a big disappointment. We paid over $1k USD per night for our honeymoon, and expected five-star service. To me, it felt like a three-star place: a clean room and daily cleaning, but little else. Breakfast was offered only at 8 am, with no choice of time or menu. I couldn’t eat the food because I was pregnant, and the alternatives were bread and lettuce. They couldn’t serve dinner to all guests, and only offered dinner to six people. We were asked to reserve a week ahead, something never mentioned during booking, so we couldn’t eat dinner at the hotel on any of our nights. There’s no room service, despite what Google AI says. With no food except the fixed breakfast or a dinner reservation we couldn’t get, we had to go outside the hotel for everything. There weren’t spa services or other amenities either. The only one was a very small outdoor hot tub, unusable in the rain because it has no cover. This hotel isn’t worth more than $1k a night. I’d consider $300 per night reasonable, but the pricing is way out of line with what’s offered. We’ve stayed at many actual five-star hotels around the world, and this isn’t one.

The dinner and breakfast were insanely good, and the service and hospitality were great. We stayed with my parents, toddler, and husband in the Presidential Two-Bedroom Suite. It was huge, and our toddler was thrilled to run around. The stay was almost perfect. Bright exit lights in the hallway outside the bedrooms shone into the rooms at night. If the bedrooms had the same curtains as the hallway, the modern Ryokan experience would have been perfect.

The staff were courteous, but getting anything beyond the basics was really hard. Breakfast only came at 8:00 or 8:30, dinner had to be booked ahead and was very expensive. The restaurant service was excellent, and dinner itself was an interesting experience, to be fair. Outside that meal, though, there was no room service at all, not even something small like a piece of bread. What made the stay such a letdown was the setting. The property sits right by busy roads, with traffic noise and no view. The room onsen had cars passing and a traffic light in front of it, so it felt more like a tub beside the street than a peaceful hot spring. The rooms were called spacious and high-category, but they felt ordinary and had no distinctive character. For what they charge, Fuji Onsenji Yumedono just wasn't worth it for us. Other places nearby offer much better views, atmosphere, comfort, and hospitality. It was the biggest disappointment of our trip, especially for the price.

We slept so deeply on those rice pillows, the beds were amazing. The ryokan was spacious and very clean, and breakfast was traditional, which made it an interesting experience. Thank you for such a lovely stay. The staff were so kind, like everyone we met in Japan 🙏🏼
