The beds were next level, with thick mattresses and two fluffy pillows in the Ryokan style. I’ve stayed at Mt Fuji hotels before, including other nearby Ryokans, and Hana Hostel Fujisan was the most comfortable. We were in room 201 for one night, March 18 to 19, 2026. Mr Satoshi was welcoming when we checked in at 1pm and showed us where to park our rental car. He took a welcome photo and printed it for us, and gave us two pairs of Japanese chopsticks as gifts. Breakfast wasn’t included in the booking, but Mr Satoshi kindly told us the bread, cup noodles, bananas, and hard-boiled eggs he’d prepared were free to eat the next morning. Keep up the wonderful work, Mr Satoshi.

The place was comfortable, cozy, and well equipped, and everything was warm during our winter stay. It’s also very close to the station. From the start, we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. We had an unexpected transport problem on checkout day, and they let us leave our luggage much longer than we’d arranged, which we really appreciated. They also gave us photos of ourselves as a keepsake, such a lovely gesture. We loved the stay and would definitely come back in another season.

Getting to major landmarks and tourist spots around Mt. Fuji was easy from this accessible location. Hana was responsive and approachable, answered questions promptly, and made communication smooth. The apartment was spacious, cozy, well equipped, spotlessly clean, and well maintained, so we felt at home right away. The room had excellent bedding and very clean linens, and we slept well after long days exploring. The kitchen was functional and a nice bonus. Rates were very reasonable for the quality, with a good balance of comfort, convenience, and value. We’d gladly stay again when visiting the Mt. Fuji area.

The futons were already laid out when we arrived, and everything was impeccably clean, including the shared toilets and bathrooms. Breakfast was included, with yogurt, brioche, jam, boiled eggs, and hot drinks. It’s not a full continental spread, but it’s enough before a day around Mount Fuji. The place is charming and right downtown, with everything nearby. We got a warm, personal welcome, one of the most memorable check-ins I’ve had in Japan. The owner was friendly, polite, and informative in good basic English, greeted us with a big smile, showed us our free parking spot, and offered useful advice for our Mount Fuji day trip. Merci pour votre accueil Monsieur! I’d gladly come back and highly recommend it.

We stayed just one night, but it may have been our favourite stop on a two week trip. The hosts were wonderfully welcoming and helpful, gave us a map, and pointed out places to see. Our cozy room had traditional shikibuton beds on a tatami floor. The lounge and kitchen had free snacks and drinks, and the shared toilet and spacious shower were clean. There are Totaro bits around the hostel for fans of My Neighbour Totaro. Mt. Fuji station is very close, and Chureito Pagoda is about a 40 minute walk away, with incredible views. We also got a photo of us and chopsticks as souvenirs, a lovely touch. We’d absolutely stay again if we return to Japan.
