I didn't like being asked to show and make copies of my personal ID. As I understand it, that's not a valid requirement under the Japanese Hotels Act. The bathroom was a bit dirty, and the room was missing several usual things: it had a non-bidet toilet, no alarm clock or kettle, and not even a proper chair. The A/C and WiFi worked well, though. With no deadbolt or chain on the door and no peephole, I felt a little insecure.

The building and facilities are old, but they’re maintained well, and the toilets and shower booths have been renovated. I felt a bit nervous before seeing the room, but once I got in, it was comfortable. Walking from the station is a little tough. If you’re driving, the free parking is great.

There are plenty of nearby places to eat, including McDonald's, Sukiya, and ramen shops, so finding food shouldn't be a problem. I stayed in the main building, where the recently renovated interior felt clean and pleasant, and the amenities were excellent. It's about a 10-minute walk from the station, which I think works well for train travelers.

They renovated the bathroom in the room, which has no bathtub. There is a large public bath, though, and I was very satisfied with it.

For just 5,000 yen a night, I thought the value was seriously amazing. The room was pretty clean, the bathroom and toilet are separate, and the fairly new TV has Netflix. The guy at the front desk was really friendly too. There are lots of places to eat nearby, like McDonald's, Starbucks, and Sukiya. This is the place I'd pick over some crappy hotel.
