Heiwadai Hotel Otemon

We stayed four nights and explored Maizuru Park, Korokan Square, Heiwadai Athletic Gym, Ohori Park, Nishi Park, and Fukuoka Castle Ruins. The hotel sits between Akasaka subway station and Ohori Park subway station, in a peaceful neighborhood with easy access to nearby attractions and everyday shops. There was strong internet, which worked well for both of us during Zoom meetings. The room was basic but had what we needed. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and we appreciated their help with the coin laundry. Breakfast is simple and traditional. It was appealing for a day or two, but for a longer stay like ours, it might be better to try other breakfast places nearby. The ground-floor lunch is also simple, traditional, and cheap. As a Filipino, I found it nostalgic, though I’d still explore other options on other days. I’d come back here.

The staff were courteous and kind, and I had a comfortable, enjoyable three-night stay while traveling solo around Kyushu. The room was clean and toiletries were provided. Breakfast was really delicious, and I’d happily eat it every day. There’s a coin laundry, a 711 nearby, and bus and train stations just a three-to-five-minute walk away. Ohori park is also close for sightseeing. I’d love to stay here again when I return to Fukuoka. 😊

There aren’t many restaurants around, but the hotel is between two stations and there’s a bus stop right outside. It was clean, and the breakfast set was good. In front of the hotel is a long lotus pond that looks perfect in summer when it’s in full bloom.

A quiet hotel with a decent-sized room and a good breakfast included for free. The nearest subway is a 10-minute walk away.
