Hostel Fukuoka.com Tenjin no.2

The breakfast area gets so cramped in the morning, it feels like a market. More than that, the service was the real problem. You have to ask for everything, and the front desk staff seemed uninterested in helping with requests. I can understand the rooms being small, but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Of the six hotels we stayed at on our Tokyo trip, this one was the best, even compared with the much more expensive places. The staff were relaxed, really friendly, and spoke English. I liked the breakfast setup too, with made-to-order sandwiches and salads, bread, smoothies, and more. Room service only came when we wanted it. The rooms were clean, the location was right in the middle of everything, and we had an excellent stay. Thanks for having us, and I hope it’s just as good when we come back to Fukuoka! :-)

The breakfast is what the hotel highlights, but I didn’t think it was worth the price, and the location wasn’t that good either. The room was tiny, which I expected, so that wasn’t the issue. What bothered me was having to request room cleaning in advance. The pillow wasn’t comfortable, and there was no kettle in the room. This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed in.

The breakfast was very good value, with made-to-order pizza, customizable salad, tasty Thai-style chicken green curry, and plenty of other extras. We stayed five nights and really enjoyed it. The room was basic but clean and comfortable; to get enough space, we had to choose a room with two semi-double beds. One small thing I appreciated was the young woman managing breakfast, who made the effort to replace the dull Christmas music with something more suitable. A successful stay.
