HOTEL NEXUS HakataSanno

Our twin room was big, clean, and had a bathtub. The staff were very friendly, and I'd highly recommend staying here. It's close to sushiro, mos burger, 7-11, and Lawson, and the free shuttle bus makes getting to the nearby airport easy.

The email replies were quick, and they confirmed my shuttle booking almost right away. I'm grateful for the ride from the hotel to Fukuoka International airport, and the drivers were extremely polite and kind. Breakfast costs ¥800, with Japanese and Western options alternating so it doesn't get boring. The rooms are new, clean, and roomy enough for 3 pieces of luggage. There are an Ippudo, Sushiro, and Don Don Donki nearby for food and shopping. If you're heading to Lalaport to see the mega Gundam, you can take 3 buses from the hotel. Thank you Hotel Nexus, it was a lovely stay!

Right when I arrived, I got service that went far beyond what I expected. Nishizaki-san patiently took time out of a busy day to help with an unrelated problem from the hotel I'd checked out of that morning in Nagasaki-Ken. They had double-charged my card. Since their staff couldn't speak enough English, he called them and explained the mistake using my online card statement and receipts. After his call, the other hotel understood and promised to reverse the duplicate charge. I'm very grateful to Nishizaki-San for taking the time to help me.

***NOT RECOMMENDED FOR FOREIGNERS*** The staff I dealt with didn't understand English at all. The booking website just said “parking facility available,” with no information that customers had to reserve a space in advance. The staff told us we'd needed to call ahead, but we had come from overseas. How were we supposed to know if nobody told us? They said they could give us a parking space for more than the normal parking rate, but wouldn't say what the rate was. There was NO WIFI, even though the website said there was, or else the staff chose not to tell us about it. Front desk service was bad too. They behaved inappropriately during check-in and seemed racist toward us because we're from Southeast Asia. They did other tasks while speaking with us, and even when I was just taking out money to pay, one turned their back and carried on with their work. I've been to Japan several times, and this was my first overseas trip to Japan that I'd planned myself. This hotel changed how I see Japanese people and made me not want to come back.
