Hotel Okura Fukuoka

The river views from our spacious room were lovely, and they were generous with the amenities. We came to walk around and sightsee, and the location also worked perfectly for seeing sumo wrestling nearby. Service felt first-class from arrival to departure, with a very polite, well-trained staff who made us feel like rockstars. The hotel has proper room service too, with delicious food delivered on a cart for in-room dining. My mother was very happy with the in-house salon. The lobby bar and bakery were incredible, and you should try the craft beers made right here in Hakata. I'd absolutely recommend the hotel and would stay again whenever I'm back in Fukuoka.

The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've had in Japan, and I was really pleased with it. The hotel connects to the train station, which is very convenient. My room was a typical business hotel setup. The bed and pillow were both on the firm side, and the light switches shone brightly toward the single bed, which felt a little uncomfortable.

I've stayed here twice, first for eight days, then again for three days after spending ten days elsewhere before our flight home. They kept our extra luggage while we were away, which was helpful. The staff are the hotel's biggest strength, always positioned around the lobby and entrances, and very courteous and ready to assist. For Japan, the room was spacious, had everything we needed, and the climate control actually worked. At other hotels I've stayed in, the rooms were unbearably hot with no way to set a comfortable temperature. This is probably the best hotel I've stayed at in Japan across six trips, from Sapporo to Fukuoka. There are several places to eat and drink in the hotel, though they feel a bit pricey for everyday meals.

The room was roomy and the staff were all friendly, professional, and great to deal with. Breakfast was the best I've had in Japan. The room felt a little dated, especially the bathroom, but I was comfortable and had a great time in Fukuoka.
