We didn't get the twin room we had requested, and the hotel tried to charge us an extra 25k JPY to fix that. One front desk employee also failed to explain the parking payment, just telling us to 'feed the meter'; another employee had to show us how to use the system to pay the advertised overnight rate. The rooms look modern, but their layout is awkward and poorly thought out. I've stayed in other small Japanese hotel rooms, and this one stands out for the wrong reasons.

The rooms felt depressing and were too small, even at the superior price. Breakfast had long queues, and although they try to serve fresh food, it kept running out. There was nothing for vegans.

The room was good, with an air conditioner and purifier that both worked well, though I noticed a slight water drip after the first night. It wasn't big, but it was enough for one person. For two people, I'd suggest a better room type for more comfort. One of the three room-cleaning options lets you get fresh towels and have the trash cleared without staff coming inside. The top floor has a gym and coin laundry, and the machine can wash and dry in one cycle. Check-in was smooth and took under three minutes. I arrived Sunday afternoon, and the taxi from the airport took about 15 minutes and cost 2000 yen, which seemed reasonable. Combs and toothbrushes are in the lobby, along with free iced green tea, white wine, and a coffee machine. I stayed four nights at Hotel Oriental Express Fukuoka Nakasu Kawabata and would definitely return next time.

The room was small and got no sunshine, but the location was good. There was also a nice parking space for 1500 a day.
