S-Peria Hotel Hakata

The room was dirty, old, and broken, and didn’t look like the photos on the hotel website. The worst part was dealing with the man at reception around 9:00 a.m. When I politely asked for an invoice, he said I had to get it from Booking. I’ve run into this before, and Booking has always told me to request invoices from the hotel. When I explained that, he raised his voice and was rude while pretending to be nice, and kept insisting he couldn’t issue one. I contacted Booking right away. They said that wasn’t true and that the hotel had to provide the invoice. So it seems he didn’t want to issue it, rather than being unable to. I’m still waiting for a reply to my message and for them to send the invoice. It’s my right as a customer, and I can’t believe I have to fight over something so simple and quick. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel or stay here again on a business trip.

The bed was too soft, though the room was spacious for a solo traveler. It’s close to Hakata station.

If you have back pain, avoid this hotel. The mattress was awful. We lay down for a few hours after check-in and woke up with severe back pain. We asked to move to another room, but they refused, and they also refused our request for a refund. In the end, we booked another hotel and checked out without staying the night.

The staff were nice, the location is good near JR HAKATAR, and the room isn’t too small. The bathroom and toilet are separate, and they gave us fresh towels every day. The hygiene was poor, though. I was fine with the bed linens being changed every three days, but the hotel says it collects rubbish and used towels daily. They didn’t, so we were left with several days’ worth of rubbish and towels. There was no cabinet or basket for used towels, and the small rubbish bin was already full on the first day. The air quality was very bad too, and caused serious allergies.
