Zonk Hotel Nakasu-Deaibashi

Room 508 was a strange setup. The air-conditioning pipes run over the top bunk, and every so often a BBQ smell comes through. I'm not sure which restaurant it's pulling dirty air from. The price and location are good, but the stay was bizarre.

The guest service was the biggest problem. After we complained that the air conditioning barely worked and the room was around 29 degrees Celsius in summer, a staff member offered us another room and gave us its number. About five minutes after we moved in, a Chinese family came in asking for their luggage back. They had been staying in that room the day before, but staff had apparently cleared it out thinking we were moving there. So we had to leave. They then offered a different room with an even worse air conditioner, which we refused. We were told we could move to a room in similar condition the next day. We'd spent four hours trying to sort this out and canceled a restaurant reservation that cost us money, so I asked for an upgrade or at least a one-night refund. They gave us neither, and wouldn't let me speak to the manager, saying refunds weren't allowed under their policy. Every request was just refused. The way they treated us was ridiculous. There was no air conditioning in the toilet either, so after a shower you start sweating again. If you ever wanted to visit a sauna, that room might do. The system seemed moldy and in poor shape. There weren't staff available to talk to in person, either. For room or service issues, you have to call from the iPad, and it takes about ten minutes just to get through, so asking for anything is slow and inefficient. Please don't stay here. I swear, you'd be better off asking to sleep in the aisle than taking a room.

The area was great for our family of four visiting Fukuoka, but the hotel itself was pretty disgusting, and I wouldn't stay there again. The wifi was so slow it was basically unusable. Consider somewhere else. I'll leave photos for you to see.

This is a no-frills place with the basics. We had a private room with a twin bed, and it was fine. The view from the 6th floor was nice, and our stay felt clean and safe. Everything is unmanned, so check-in and checkout happen on a tablet. The walls are thin, so noise can carry. Free earplugs are available by the check-in area. Wifi was a little slow. They did provide face wash, body lotion, skim milk, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, a toothbrush and toothpaste, and a hairbrush.
