Smart Hotel Hakata 4

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and the location is close to Fukuoka Station. It feels like a pretty nice one-room apartment that happens to be a hotel, and you can imagine living on your own in a cool place like this. There's a microwave, kitchen, and washing machine too. A few practical things were missing: no slippers or hangers, and the outlets are in awkward places. The check-in point is about 500 meters away, so if you come here first, that's a 1 km round trip.

It took more than two hours to reach my room from Hakata Station, and I didn't get there until after midnight. The room was more than worth the price, but the staff's attitude was terrible. I want my money back. I booked on the same day, yet was sent to a 24-hour check-in desk in the opposite direction. When I asked about it, I got a string of nonsensical excuses, including that an automated email about the move three days earlier should have been sent. I said I hadn't received one, but they kept insisting that it had gone out. I went to that desk in the middle of a typhoon and only met one foreign man. Other people had complained too, so what's going on? The response and attitude were awful. It was the worst hotel I've stayed at, with customer service that blamed the customer for the hotel's mistake.

The separate bathroom and toilet were a nice plus, and the place was comfortable, with a TV, Wi-Fi, and fridge. The shampoo and other toiletries were good quality. Nothing in particular caused a problem. The cleaning could be a little more thorough, but it wasn't a major issue.

The room was spacious and clean. But the check-in desk is on the other side of the station, so you have to go there first, which is really inconvenient. I wish they made staying here easier, either by letting guests check in at the hotel or by using an electronic key.
