Sumiyoshi apartment

The apartment was small and the balcony was dirty. There was no hot water from the tap, and the owners didn’t fix it. Their only suggestion was to move rooms, but our vacation was already spoiled, so we had to book somewhere else. We changed the dates through Booking, but the owners said they couldn’t refund us even though the dates had changed. I don’t recommend it. A nearby hotel would be better and cheaper.

Check-in was very convenient, and the room was comfortable despite being small. It feels just right for one person. It’s around a 20-minute walk from Hakata Station. I stayed in winter and had to use the heater, which was a bit disappointing. The air gets quite dry, so bringing something to manage humidity in winter is a good idea.

For sightseeing, it did what I needed and kept me out of the rain and wind. It was cheap, with a convenience store, supermarket, and bus stop nearby, and the room matched what I expected from the reviews. I was supposed to get the mailbox PIN for the key by email on arrival day, but it never came. I called and got the code, and a foreigner passing by kindly helped me get in. With three or more people, I think two rooms would be better. The mats they provide are like sleeping on the floor. I’d stay again when traveling with one other person.

It felt like a roomy, fully equipped apartment from an anime 🏠. The place was a little old, but clean. There’s only a staircase between the first and second floors, so keep that in mind if you have large luggage.
