The ryokan gave us onigiri for lunch, which was kind of them since we were staying two nights. Check-in and meal times were quite busy, but during the day it was surprisingly quiet. The onsen water is cloudy, and the sulfur smell hit me as soon as I arrived.

The outdoor onsen was a great place to relax, and I really liked the atmosphere. The staff were kind and helpful. I recommend visiting at least once.

The baths were easily the best part for me. There are two indoors, three outdoor rotenburo, another bath just for women, and a foot bath. The wooden bath structures are charming and well designed. The water is very white and rich, with that real onsen smell. It can run a bit hot, depending on what you like. The traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were delicious, and breakfast was excellent. I just wish they had coffee. The price was around 15000, very reasonable for the quality. The facility is a little aged but still quite acceptable. The Japanese-style bedrooms are clean and spacious, and you get an onsen set, tea set, and a few local sweets when you arrive. You can hear the river from the bedrooms. Some people might find that noisy, but I loved it. One of the best onsen experiences in Japan, and one that left me with lasting memories.
