Fukuyama Century Hotel

I stayed from Wednesday, September 24th, 2025 to Thursday, September 25th, 2025, for ¥5500. I’d looked on Jalan again for a place with free parking and free Wi-Fi, and chose the cheapest nearby option. For that price, the stay was tolerable, and some shortcomings felt hard to avoid. I arrived after sunset because of errands and first turned into the neighboring house by mistake, thinking it was the hotel parking lot. The actual lot was extremely narrow, with room for about 30 cars. Getting out while parked nose-in looked difficult, so I backed halfway onto the main road, turned around, and repositioned the car to park in reverse. The space was so tight I nearly hit a pedestrian while turning near the road, which was frustrating. My room was in the annex, a converted apartment building next door with an open corridor. Partitions between the smaller rooms had been removed, leaving a single room about 3 meters x 8 meters, which was on the spacious side. The bathroom was small, around 1200-2000 yen, and all the facilities were rather old, though that didn’t bother me during the stay. Since it was a separate building, I had to haul my luggage about 30 meters in light rain, which was unpleasant.

The room does get a proper cleaning, but the vinyl floor is incredibly sticky. A light swipe with the bath mat turns it black, like it’s wiped along a bicycle chain. Still, the price is cheap, so I guess that comes with it.

It was cheap, but this was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The cleaning still wasn’t done at 3 PM, so I had to wait at the front desk. Also, every time I put the key in, the circuit breaker made a loud bang. A terrible experience.

The place felt old throughout, and I wouldn’t stay here again. My room was dark and smelled bad, with dead cockroaches that made it feel unclean. It had hardwood floors, and the very old air conditioner didn’t cool it down, perhaps because of the location.
