Fenix Furano

The free courtesy shuttle was a real bonus, and we liked being able to use WhatsApp for rides, recommendations, and anything else we needed. The staff were generally polite, and Jem deserves a special mention for being friendly, professional, and courteous. She made our holiday so easy. Kyle, Neave (sorry, I’ve got the spelling wrong, but the sound is right), Mitch, and Jacob also stood out. We stayed in room 303. It was a nice hotel, clean and pleasant, with a comfortable sitting area for waiting, having coffee, or using your phone. The shower was really nice, and the cooking area was an appreciated surprise. I did miss having robes. Breakfast was the same every day, with little choice to change things, though maybe we should have asked. I especially appreciated that a vegetarian version was available. One of our friends had a hard time getting a humidifier when the rest of us had one in rooms with the same setup. We also found one receptionist more likely to say no before agreeing to a request, though they remained polite. It was an easy short walk across the road to ski hire, then a little farther over the snow to the lifts. The lift lines weren’t too busy, or the wait was short when there was a queue. I’d recommend staying at Fenix Furano.

The free shuttle was probably the most useful part of our stay. It took us to and from the train station, into town for dinner, and over to the Prince side of the resort. Thanks to Harry and the other drivers for the good chats in the van. Booking rides through WhatsApp was convenient too. Fenix is right across from the kitanomine gondola, so it’s hard to stay closer. The modern rooms were nice, and the ski locker had everything we needed, including a boot-warming wall. There was even a cart to return our hired gear to Rythym, which saved us carrying it back down the road.

Being right beside the Gondola station was a real plus, and the hotel is new, modern, and well maintained. Everything was as advertised, and we had a fabulous, luxurious stay at Fenix Furano. The reception staff were friendly and professional. They showed us the ski lockers, told us when the Gondola station would open the next morning, and shared the weather and trail conditions. Breakfast was Western-style and very filling.

The shuttle was great, and Jonah was an excellent host. He was always on time to drive us and was super nice and engaging. The rooms are new and well maintained, and the location is excellent, right outside Kitanomine Gondola.
