The old-fashioned touch that remains is the metal room key instead of a card. Much of the hotel has been updated, though: the taps and baths feel modern, each room has its own air conditioner, and breakfast is decent. The bathrooms are on the small side, with low ceilings that may feel especially cramped to non-Asian guests. There is a shared bath for guests, and the housekeeping staff are very polite.

For a single night, this worked well. The room was comfortable and clean, with enough outlets for charging devices and using a laptop. Breakfast was simple, tasty, and had a decent range of choices.

The public onsen is open around the clock, since there’s no shower or bath in the room. My single room was compact but spotless, with all the basics: a small fridge, kettle, LAN cable, hair dryer, TV, and universal charger. I stayed for one night.

I keep choosing this hotel when I’m in Kamisuwa because it’s convenient. It isn’t fancy, but it’s comfortable, and the breakfast is much the same each time.

A decent business hotel, though probably not a good fit for couples. There are only twin single beds, with no queen or king option.
