Toraya Inn

The private bath is popular and costs 3,500-4,000 yen. It's not real onsen water, though it is hot and infused with local minerals, and made for a nice 45-minute soak. The house is new, very clean, and thoughtfully designed down to the details. The receptionist gave us useful tips about town and discount coupons for local public baths. There's a refreshment corner on every floor with hot water, tea and coffee. Our room also had a full set of chargers and warm packs. Breakfast arrived in a cute basket with hot soup and baked goods. If you like warm bread, there's a toaster on the ground floor.

The room was really comfortable, and the custom-made souvenirs are cute. It's very clean and has a distinctly Japanese ryokan feel. The staff were so nice, with that kind of Japanese service and kindness. They serve breakfast, but not dinner, so you'll need to find a restaurant for your evening meal.

We only had one night here, which was a shame. This little gem in a charming village had outstanding service, and everyone was so friendly. I'd warmly recommend staying here. Thank you!

The room was clean and spacious, and the service was very good. They told us about local sights, shops and restaurants. If you're bringing large bags, I'd suggest taking a taxi, since the walk from Gero station goes uphill.
