Hotel Park

We had a lovely stay as a family, and the staff helped make my daughter's birthday special by arranging a cake in advance. They were attentive and immediately recognized that we were foreigners, then kindly explained the hot spring facilities and traditions. The room was spacious and had a beautiful view of the Nagara River. We also watched the traditional cormorant fishing show (Ukai), which was fascinating and rich in culture. It made for a wonderful night in Gifu. The one small drawback was the short breakfast window, which felt tight for our family. It'd be more convenient if it ran until 10 or 11 am.

The open-air baths at sunrise and sunset were the most relaxing, freeing spots. The hotel itself is very nice and welcoming.

The room was one of the best we've stayed in in Japan: huge, modern, fresh, and furnished to a high standard. The large baths were spacious and had good views. Check-in was quick and professional, and a staff member showed us to the room, though nobody explained the facilities or services. Breakfast was a real disappointment for such an expensive room. It felt more like a cheap business hotel, with factory-made bread and jam in little packets, served in a cafeteria-style room by staff who seemed disinterested.

This was my second stay at this quiet, super comfortable onsen hotel this year. It's in a great spot right by the river, where you can see the cormorant fishing from your room. Mr Sakuragi was especially kind and enthusiastic, and his English is very good. When he learned I was visiting for the second time, he made a big effort to arrange a room with the best view for us. I really appreciate that thoughtful arrangement. I'd definitely recommend the hotel and will be back!
