There isn’t much around this part of Hachimantai, so if you’re without a car, you might want to have dinner at the hotel. The service team were friendly and helpful, and used a translation bot to explain dinner options and transportation since we don’t speak Japanese. The building is dated, but it has a nostalgic charm.

The room felt cramped, and the bathroom was so tiny it seemed suitable only for kids. Cleanliness was below the standard I’ve seen at other Japanese hotels. Dinner quality wasn’t okay, though the free beer was a plus.

The rooms were too noisy and not great, but the onsen and lounge were nice. It all felt very cozy in winter.

The room was okay, but the food wasn’t very good, especially the breakfast buffet. The all-you-can-drink plan was fine, except the lobby coffee was instant. I liked the hot tub water, but the shampoo, rinse, and body soap there weren’t good. The room shower didn’t have shampoo or rinse either. It wasn’t a very good experience.

It’s an authentic traditional Japanese hotel, and the outdoor hot spring is highly recommended. I thought it was well worth the price and would definitely come again.
