The house has a warm, social feel, and people often sit down together for dinner and drinks. The host has made everyone feel welcome. It’s a traditional building with comfortable bunk beds and lots of shared space. You can use the kitchen, and the two toilets and bathroom were clean. It’s a short walk to the beach, and Hagi is small enough to get around on foot. I’d definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Hagi.

This is a ryokan, so the setup is different from a hotel: there’s a shower, bunk beds and shared space. The beds were really comfortable, the house smelled nice, and it was so peaceful. I enjoyed staying there for the night and meeting the family. I also got to talk with a lot of Japanese people late into the night.

The owners were kind and helpful, and for such a low price this place is lovely and worth a lot more. It’s a charming old seaside town too. Explore on the bikes: cross the river and ride along the coast, or head the other way by the beach.

A nice, quiet spot away from the town noise, and the price is low. Each bed has its own light and fan. I’d recommend it if you just need somewhere to spend the night.
