HakoBA Hakodate by THE SHARE HOTELS

The hotel has a pretty distinctive design, it reminded us of a design course xD. Its bayfront location comes with a nice view, and there's a Lucky Pierrot burger place and a convenience store right beside it. The nearest bus stop and tram station are just one street away, and Hakodate ropeway is walkable. Our room was cozy and had a sink, handy for getting ready in the morning or brushing our teeth. There are quite a few free amenities too. The main downside was trying to work on a laptop while charging it. The only spot for that was the "playground area" on 3F, since there are no charging ports in the lobby.

The staff were warm and welcoming, and check-in went smoothly. The location is hard to beat, just a very short walk from the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse, Motomachi, and the Mount Hakodate Ropeway. The hotel has two buildings. Dorm rooms are in the Dock Building, while rooms with private ensuites are in the Bank building. I had a private room on level 2 of the Bank building. There's no lift there, so it may be worth asking if a room on level 1, at ground level, is available. The Dock Building does have a lift, but there are still steps to some rooms and facilities, so it may not work well for people with mobility issues. My Standard Double Compact with Private Bathroom was comfortable and set up well for working on a laptop or relaxing. Cleaning could be better: there was quite a bit of dust around the bathroom and a bedroom light fixture. Breakfast was a bit odd. The restaurant is a curry house, but breakfast had just one option: soup, some chicken, lettuce, and another dish. More choices would be good.

We had two lovely, restful nights. After years of staying in hostels around the world, I've never had nights this quiet. It's a clean, very good hostel in Hakodate's historical area, in a newly renovated building with large rooms, comfortable beds, and all the necessary facilities.

The room was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. The staff were friendly and really supportive, and the location near the Hakodate piers meant beautiful views and easy access. I'm glad my friend picked this hotel for our Hakodate stay. I'd happily stay here again when I return. Keep it up!
