Great spot, really close to Hakodate airport. The public bath has local food nearby, plus a steam room and souna. Prices in Hakodate are reasonable too.

The staff are really friendly, and the onsen is good.

I visited for a day bath and found the location very convenient, just a one-minute walk from the Yunokawa Onsen tram stop. The hours are long, 6:00-22:00, much like a public bathhouse. Few ryokans in Yunokawa Onsen seem to take day visitors in the morning, and I get the impression that only Daikokuya Ryokan and Kamomekan do, so this is a welcome option. The place feels more like a public bath than a ryokan’s large communal bath. It’s a small facility with just an indoor bath, but the water is definitely Yunokawa Onsen’s salty hot spring water. The main bath is quite hot at about 43-44°C, which makes for a refreshing soak. There’s also a shallower bath where the overflow goes, probably around 41°C. It’s a little cooler and pleasantly relaxing, almost enough to drift off. A cold bath is available too, making for a nice hot-and-cold routine. Body soap and shampoo with conditioner are provided, but hairdryers cost extra. The day-use fee is 800 yen, more than nearby public hot spring baths at around 500 yen but less than a ryokan day visit, which is over 1,000 yen. I went around 5 PM, and it wasn’t busy, so I had lots of time to myself. The changing area has 100-yen coin lockers that don’t refund the coins, or unlocked baskets. There was no posted detailed analysis report, but when I asked, someone kindly brought it from the office. The water seemed almost certainly free-flowing, unheated, and uncirculated. There was no indication of anything affecting its composition; whether water is added or disinfected was unclear. The morning rice balls were served warm, which was nice. WiFi 6 worked well, and parking is available in the gated lot two doors down from the hotel. Show your ticket at check-in and it costs 100 yen per night to leave. Think of the hot spring as a free-flowing public bath. In the men's bath, people were expected to put the bucket and chair back after using them. The showers were busy because day visitors use the baths too. The room felt old, and sleeping on futons was difficult for someone used to beds, so keep that in mind. Streetcar noise nearby bothered me at night.

I slept well here without earplugs, which I usually need in hotels. The room was quiet: with my feet toward the window, outside noise didn’t bother me, and I barely heard anything from the hallway. The pillows are small, so I’d suggest asking the front desk for an extra one. There’s a microwave on the 3rd floor, handy for heating up anything you buy. The hotel was comfortable and convenient, and nothing else bothered me. The parking lot is spacious and easy to use. It costs 100 yen each time you leave, or 100 yen for 24 hours if you stay put, and the front desk can discount the ticket. The public bath water was pleasant, with both hot and lukewarm options. The shower temperature, though, kept shifting between hot and cold, but never got hot enough to burn. You have to return to your room to use a hairdryer. Day visitors can pay to use one. My one concern was the breakfast rice balls. I appreciated getting two, but for two days running, the one said to be salmon turned out to be cod roe. On the second day I asked whether the other one, which wasn’t salmon, was yukari, the perilla leaf seasoning, and was told it was “probably furikake.” I wanted to know what kind. If they didn’t know the ingredients, they could have checked. Telling a customer “probably” feels wrong, especially when allergies could be involved. I was grateful for the rice balls and would be sad if they stopped offering them, but this was the one thing I found strange.
