Ryokan Ichinomatsu

One staff member who spoke English was especially helpful, and we’re very grateful she went out of her way for us. The rest of the service felt a little unrefined, especially from the staff serving meals and laying out the futons. For the price, which was similar to what we paid in Noboribetsu, I’d expected a more impressive public bath and garden. It was an average stay.

The food was top quality, and the rooms were roomy and exceptionally clean. Service was impeccable, with everyone exceptionally friendly. This ryokan was outstanding, and I’d highly recommend it.

We had a memorable two-night stay, thanks in part to the friendly, helpful staff. The meals were fantastic and arrived promptly.

The Botanical Gardens are nearby, where we saw monkeys bathing in the onsen. It’s a peaceful, welcoming inn, and only about a five-minute walk from the tram stop. We stayed two nights with breakfast included, served in the room. The staff roll up the tatami about 30 minutes before breakfast, so we used that time to visit the onsen. Breakfast was delicious and traditional Japanese style. The onsen aren’t very large, but the indoor and outdoor sections were perfectly adequate. The staff looked after us warmly, and we loved experiencing traditional Japanese culture here.
