La'gent Stay Hakodate Ekimae

It's very convenient for getting around, right beside the train and bus stations. The rooms feel modern and comfortable, and breakfast was very good. The one drawback was the strong smoke smell throughout the lobby.

After a very small Tokyo hotel, this room felt much more spacious and comfortable. There was room to walk around without squeezing along the sides of the bed, and it even had a one-seater sofa as well as a desk chair. The location is excellent too, just a 3-minute walk from Hakodate train station.

You can find northern food without going outside, even in winter, since there's a small shopping mall attached. The location is great. The onsen, though, was what I disliked. They advertise it, but quite a few things weren't working. They should fix them before bragging about the place.

The room wasn't large, but it was clean and comfortable, and the kids loved the cute penguin plush toy. On check-in day, a Chinese-speaking front desk staff member gave us great service and recommended shops where we could find what we were looking for. We felt warmly welcomed. We also had to make last-minute changes by phone because of the tsunami warning. The staff didn't speak much English, but everyone patiently used translation devices to help, and the issue was resolved well. We're very grateful and will definitely stay here again when we next visit Hakodate.
