The staff are friendly and helpful, and there's still plenty of privacy. Towels can be rented and you can borrow a phone charger. It's a lovely warm hostel, comfortable and tastefully done, with a very nice bath. There are only a few small rooms, but they have what you need. Jujigai tram station is a short walk away, with trams to Hakodate train station. I'd happily recommend it.

We were eight adults, and the living room had a big fireplace that made the place feel stylish. Having a car is no problem, but the house is on a slope, so walking to the nearest convenience store might be a bit of a trek.

We had enough separate rooms for everyone to sleep apart, and the several bathrooms and shower rooms gave us privacy. At the same time, we could hang out together in the living room and kitchen. The house was old, but clean, well cared for, and spacious enough for the children to run around. We rented the whole place for six adults and two children. We liked the veranda-like area off the living room for the fresh air and view. The dishes, furniture, and even little toys showed thought and care. We also had fireworks in the courtyard at night. We'd like to stay here again on a family trip to Hakodate.
