Ryosuke, the host, contacted me beforehand with the hotel's location and some good tips for exploring Hakodate. I was also moved to a nicer room at no extra cost because it was available. The guesthouse is lovely inside, and you can feel the care that went into it. I stayed one night and had a great experience. Highly recommended!

Even with the language barrier, Piece's enthusiasm and approachable manner made this a really pleasant stay and great value. The owner took two Polaroid photos of us and gave us one to keep as a souvenir, which made a lovely memory. They also let us store our luggage, a huge help on the last day when dragging bags around would have been a disaster. For a group of two or more, this is a must-visit for One Piece fans. Even if you're not a fan, I'd still recommend checking it out. There's an impressive number of collectibles, and the room felt wonderfully spacious with plenty of beds, even with just three guests. You can use the kitchen, and there are two bathrooms with separate toilets and showers, two of each and no bathtubs. That made it easy to use the shower and toilet on our own schedules without getting in each other's way. It's a short walk from Hakodate Station, with convenient bus stops nearby. The drinking water comes from a school-style dispenser. It didn't taste strange to us as Taiwanese people, so it was easy to get used to. You can feel the owner's dedication and skill in running the place. This is just my personal experience for reference.

The rooms are roomy, and both the shower and toilet were clean. Hakodate Morning Market and Daimon Yokocho are also within walking distance. It's about a 15-minute walk from Hakodate Station, so the location works especially well if you're planning to explore around the station.
