Dinner was delicious and reasonably priced, with local beer and other drinks to choose from and a view of the garden. The rooms are simple, with basic amenities. The onsen is shared, but you reserve a time for private use when you check in, so privacy and tattoos weren’t a worry. It’s a quiet spot that works for families or solo travelers. The bus stop is down a fairly steep hill, so if you have limited mobility or luggage, you can ask the staff for a ride from a few places.

Yuy took such good care of us and always greeted us with the biggest smile. Sorry if I’ve got the name wrong. The service was amazing throughout our 2-night stay. We loved the food, onsen, and traditional ryokan feel. I’d definitely recommend staying here when you visit Hakone. It’s also not far from the popular sightseeing spots.

We loved how peaceful it was, with mountain air and a lovely view over the garden. The rooms are great, and there’s an Onsen, a massage chair, and a room for exercise. Staff are friendly too. What more do you need? You can relax in a kimono, and towels and toothbrushes are ready if you forgot yours. The Open Air Museum is walkable if you’re up for a hike. Highly recommend Asante Inn!

The garden looked even more beautiful in the snowfall at sunrise the next morning. It was a magical surprise. My husband and I felt warmly welcomed by the attentive staff, and the stay made us feel immersed in Japanese culture. Hakone itself is a unique place, with breathtaking scenery. We took the ropeway and got to admire Mount Fuji, which was unforgettable. This is one of the most amazing places I’ve visited, and we’ll recommend it to friends whenever we get the chance.
