Kisenso

The couple who run this inn were incredibly welcoming and thoughtful. After I got my shoes dirty on a hike, they even offered to clean them for me. The room was luxurious, the private bath was beautiful, and the food was delicious and nicely presented. I had a really relaxing stay and would gladly come again. This is the place I’d choose in Hakone.

This is a small, comfortable traditional inn close to Hakone Yuumoto Station. We walked from the first bus stop after the train station, and the short distance was manageable even with two large suitcases. The place was exceptionally clean and the staff made us feel welcome. Our Japanese-style room had comfortable futons. We also enjoyed the indoor public bath and the outdoor bath, which is reserved and included in the stay. Breakfast and dinner were delicious.

The staff went well beyond what we expected. When they couldn't get a taxi for us at checkout, they drove us to the station themselves. We also appreciated being able to reserve the onsen for 40 minutes, enough time for a soak and to dry off afterwards. Our traditional Japanese-style room made for a relaxing stay, and the food was great, with lots of different dishes and plenty of rice. We couldn't finish it, but anyone who wanted more could ask for a refill. I'd recommend the experience.

The private bath can be booked for a 40-minute session, and there’s also a public bath. The ryokan was beautiful and clean, and dinner was delicious and thoughtfully prepared.
