BLISSTIA Hakone Sengokuhara

The rooms are huge, and the hotel itself is beautiful. Sitting on the balcony with those amazing, peaceful views was lovely, and the onsen and spa felt luxurious. Breakfast was excellent, with a great selection each morning. For the value, I think it deserves a much higher rating than 4.2. I’d definitely stay again.

I’m sad to write this because there was a lot I liked. The staff were kind, my room was comfortable, and I had a beautiful balcony view. I also thought the staff and service were excellent. I just wish I’d enjoyed the stay more. On my first night, I became severely ill with food poisoning after dinner. The night staff called an ambulance, and I lost a whole travel day because I was too sick to explore Hakone and was bedridden in my room. I may be wrong, but I suspect the timing played a part. I missed my original dinner time, which was my mistake, and was rescheduled for an hour and 45 minutes later. Unlike many reviews describing slow service, my meal came quickly. I wonder if it had been prepared at the original time and not stored properly, allowing bacteria to grow in the raw fish. I can’t prove that, but the circumstances made me wonder. If that’s what happened, I hope the kitchen reviews its food safety practices. I can’t be the only guest to miss a dinner time, especially after a long travel day. The next day, I got a 10000 yen refund for the dinner, but I paid full price for the meal that made me sick.

The spa was a very relaxing part of my stay. The resort has stunning interior design and elegant architecture outside. It was my favorite stop so far on my two-week trip to Japan.

The hotel has a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere, especially around the spa, and we absolutely loved our stay at Blisstia. Our room was spacious and beautifully designed. The staff were friendly, and breakfast tasted great. There was plenty of parking right in front, with lots of restaurants within walking distance.
