The suite was spacious, with our own outdoor bath, and the service was attentive throughout our one-night stay. The property is tastefully designed. My only small complaints were that the bath had no view and some of the living room furniture looked a little worn.

Even a standard room is spacious, and the hot spring and food were both fabulous. The location can be inconvenient without a private car, though there are lots of places to visit around the hotel.

The atmosphere was superb, and we had a fantastic stay. The hot spring and private hot bath were great, and both the kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast were excellent. Staff were helpful too. Little Prince and Glass Museum are very close by.

Getting to Hakone Hisui takes some planning. The shuttle schedule is limited, taxis don’t often come to Gora station, and the road down is winding. But once we arrived, the hotel felt out of this world. We’re new to Japanese hospitality and felt how welcoming and friendly everyone was. They did their best to provide whatever they could. The open air onsen and public bath were breathtaking. We didn’t want to leave. It felt like paradise.

The staff were kind and always ready to help. The lounge stays open all day with free drinks, and the outdoor onsen and foot bath look out over a beautiful Japanese garden. Best place I’ve stayed in Hakone.
