Hotel Green Plaza Gora

The room had plenty of space, its own lounge and outdoor area, and a huge bathroom. That’s where the positives ended for me. The location is remote and far from restaurants, so I wouldn’t stay here without a car. For a Hyatt in such a beautiful area, I expected more from the facilities. The onsen was indoors, with a window looking at a wall. I’d hoped for an outdoor one with a view. There’s no indoor pool either, and I expected a gym. The service was the biggest letdown. We’d left some belongings at our previous accommodation and needed help contacting them. The reception staff member told us to call ourselves because he was busy. We don’t speak Japanese, and all we needed was one phone call, so I had to push before he finally handed us the phone. He still wouldn’t call for us. He seemed to be a more senior staff member, an older man in a dark grey suit. That interaction felt borderline rude, and he should be spoken to.

The onsen, food, room, and views were all phenomenal, and the property sits beautifully in the peaceful Hakone landscape. What made me want to come back, though, was the care from Puja Cheteri. She was warm, professional, and attentive, offering thoughtful recommendations and anticipating what I might need before I asked. Every interaction felt kind and genuine. From the moment I arrived at the Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa, I felt welcomed and valued. Puja Cheteri’s service was both polished and heartfelt, the kind of hospitality that made an already great hotel feel exceptional. The team is fortunate to have her. I’ll absolutely return and recommend the hotel to friends, family, and colleagues. If you’re after a relaxing, luxurious getaway, it’s a lovely place to stay, and being looked after by Puja Cheteri would make it especially memorable.

We only stayed one night, so there weren’t any massage reservations left by the time we tried to book. I wish we’d had longer at the spa. We did get to spend a little time in the onsen, though, and both loved it. The room felt serene, with a beautiful mountain view. For his birthday, there was a sweet note and some treats waiting for my fiancé. We also enjoyed the Yukatas, and wore them to dinner. I wouldn’t suggest wearing them to breakfast, though, we were the only ones doing that, lol. The relaxing living room had a wood fire in the middle, where we played chess over our welcome drinks. Staff answered all our questions at check-in and took great care of us. There’s a shuttle to a main stop on the Hakone loop and to Odawara Station, but its departure times are set, so plan ahead. We had a lovely stay at Hyatt Regency in Hakone and would recommend it.

The shuttle was the highlight for us. It was free, quick, and covered a lot: pickup at Gora station, a dinner drop-off at Gyoza Center, pickup from lawson, then a drop-off at Souzan station. The building is pretty old, as other reviews mention, and you can see wear on the older furniture, door hinges, and elevators. It’s still maintained well. Our room was clean and really big, with lots of luggage space and extra tables and chairs. A solid Hyatt stay in Hakone.
