The room was spacious, which was a real plus, and we could see the very tip of Mt Fuji. But for the price, I wouldn't stay again. Breakfast was very pricey for what you got, and we couldn't use the spa pool. We paid with points, but had we paid the $1.5k cash price for that night, I'd have been quite disappointed. At $200 a night I wouldn't have complained. The same number of points had gotten us a stay at the Park Hyatt Maldives, too. The shuttle arrangements were frustrating. Nobody told us where to wait, so at the train station we ran between exits trying to find it. It was 20 minutes late, and no one let us know. The pickup point was behind a large statue outside the station, with no explanation of how we were meant to know that. A mix-up meant our return shuttle wasn't booked; every departure except the first of the day was full, so we had to take that one and then wait hours at the station for our train without anywhere to sit. For this price, that shouldn't have happened. At check-in, we were told our luggage would be brought up right away. After 25 minutes, we went back down to get it because we wanted to change and go out for a few hours. It was sitting in the middle of the room with a crowd around it. When we reached for it, someone snatched it from us, yelling, “no no no,” then brought it to our room. It was a weird interaction.

The room was spacious, with its own lounge, an outdoor area, and a huge bathroom. Beyond that, I was disappointed. For a Hyatt, I expected a gym and an indoor pool, but there was neither. The onsen was a single indoor bath with a window facing a wall; in such a beautiful area, I expected an outdoor bath with a view. The location is quite remote and far from restaurants, so I wouldn't stay here without a car. The service was the biggest letdown. We needed help calling our previous accommodation because we'd left some belongings there. The reception staff said, “call them yourself,” as they were busy. We don't speak Japanese, and all I needed was for him to make one phone call. I had to push hard before he finally handed us the phone, but he still refused to call for us. He seemed to be a more senior staff member, an older man in a dark grey suit. It felt borderline rude, and he should be spoken to.

The room, food, onsen, and views were all phenomenal, but Puja Cheteri's care is what made the stay unforgettable. She was warm, professional, and kind, with an eye for detail. She anticipated what I might need, shared thoughtful recommendations, and made sure I was comfortable. Her hospitality felt both flawless and heartfelt, and she is a real gem. Hyatt Regency Hakone is fortunate to have her. From arrival, I felt welcomed, cared for, and valued. The property is stunning, peaceful, and beautifully integrated into the natural Hakone landscape. Puja's attention elevated the whole experience. I'll absolutely return and recommend the hotel to friends, family, and colleagues. If you're looking for a relaxing, luxurious getaway with thoughtful hosting, Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa is the place. And if Puja Cheteri assists you, you're in for something special.

The mountain view from our serene room was beautiful, and the staff took great care of us, answering all our questions at check-in. For my fiancé's birthday, there was a sweet note and some sweets waiting in the room. We enjoyed the Yukatas and wore them to dinner, though I wouldn't recommend wearing them to breakfast. We were the only ones who did, lol. The living room was a relaxing spot, with a wood fire in the middle. We played chess there over our welcome drinks. We only stayed one night and couldn't get a massage reservation because none were available, so I wish we'd had more time for the spa. We did spend a little time in the onsen and loved it. The shuttle serves one of the main stops on the Hakone loop and Odawara Station, but runs at set times, so plan ahead. The property and staff were incredible, and we'd highly recommend it for a Hakone stay.

The shuttle was the standout for us. We used it for pickup at Gora station, dinner drop-off at Gyoza Center, a pickup at lawson, and drop-off at Souzan station, all free, and the service was super quick. The rooms were very large and clean, with plenty of luggage space plus extra tables and chairs. The property is quite old, as other reviews mention, but it's maintained pretty well. You can see wear on the older furniture, door hinges, and elevators, among other things. A solid Hyatt stay in Hakone.
