Mizu No Kaori

Getting there takes a bit of walking, though you can also take the bus, which makes the trip easier. The area itself is quiet and peaceful. The outdoor onsen feels authentic and is excellent, and the tasty, well-prepared food was one of the best parts of the stay. A lovely classic ryokan experience.

We spent two nights at Mizu-no-Kaori Ryokan and had a great time. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and using the private Onsen was a treat, though you need to reserve it in advance. The staff really cared about guests' well-being, and they provided pickup and transfer from Sounzan station. The food was delicious and carefully prepared, with a variety of Japanese dishes to try. They can cater to vegetarians too, for an extra fee.

Communication was difficult and sometimes really frustrating for international guests, as the staff didn't speak any English. The rooms, furniture, and interiors all looked extremely outdated, as if they hadn't been renovated in decades. The traditional look might appeal to some people, but to us the accommodation felt worn and in need of significant modernization. It all looked more than 50 years old.

A cozy, quiet place to get away. The staff are kind and the food is amazing. You can book a private outdoor bath, and it was very comfortable. Reservations can be made online through the official website, with payment at the hotel.
