Yumoto Station Hotel MIRAHAKONE

The room was clean, but tight. I stayed one night, and my two suitcases and two packages just fit. With more luggage, getting to the bed could be a problem. The stairs up to the rooms are small, so be ready to carry your bags. The location is good, near the train and bus station and lots of shops. The neighborhood was quiet, and I didn't hear much from outside at night. I couldn't use the storage room before check-in because I hadn't received the entry code by 10am. Other guests said they got the details the day before, so I'm not sure why mine didn't arrive.

We spent three nights here, and the location in a little street near Yuomoto station made day trips easy. A coffee machine in the hallway was a nice touch. The room, though, was tiny for two people, with barely any room for luggage. More hooks for clothes would have helped. We've stayed in much better hotels in Japan for less money. Compared with others nearby, the price is moderate, but this is a touristy area, so the value isn't great.

For the price, this was a great little self-service hotel. The instructions for getting in and using everything were clear, and the place was clean and pleasant. Our room was tiny but had all the essentials, including a clean, modern bathroom. The coffee corner just outside had a working microwave, freezer, and sink, and we could make coffee, tea, or breakfast there. There's a small restaurant right outside that stays open later than most places in Japan. Smoking was allowed just outside the entrance. Highly recommended.

We were so alarmed by the room that we left and bought a room for the night at the nearest hotel down the street. This was the fourth hotel we wanted to stay at in Japan, and when we entered, there was a bad smell, it didn't seem clean, and the accommodation felt sketchy. We also saw what looked like clear signs of bedbugs. The manager refunded us after I raised the bedbug issue, but said nothing about fixing it. It felt like they might have wanted to prevent me from reviewing the place on booking.com, where we had booked. I rarely write reviews, but this place seems to market itself very well despite the awful room. Do not stay here.
