Onsen Hostel K's House Hakone

The staff were so generous, kind, and helpful. They found the key I lost at the end of my trip right away and didn’t charge the key fee. They also stored my luggage for free and let me wait for my bus on the terrace. The shoe dryer and sanitizer spray were a real help after I’d been hiking in the rain and was worried about drying my shoes by morning. The hostel beds were spacious and the curtains blocked light well, though the rooms can get warm in the warmer months, so I’d suggest bringing a small neck fan. The onsen was beautiful, clean, and very private. The K bus runs to and from hakone-yumoto station and is included in the hakone free pass, but departures are spread out, so check the schedule. Walking down to town is easy, but very steep.

Hakone’s K’s House sits among the mountains and tall leafy trees, a peaceful spot to enjoy the area’s quiet. I found the bunk beds surprisingly comfortable, and having an onsen right in the hostel is a real plus. A very relaxing stay.

A great hostel, clean and comfortable, with friendly staff. There’s a lovely common area, a book exchange, a nice kitchen, and fresh coffee in the morning. It also has indoor and outdoor onsens.
