Tsukinoya

There’s a 711 open 24/7 within walking distance, which was convenient, and I loved the peaceful private outdoor onsen. You can book it for 50 minutes. The owner of Tsukinoya and his wife were incredibly kind. He helped me plan my trip to Yamanashi for the next day, but unusually heavy snowfall in Hakone meant I had to change my plans. He then drove me almost an hour to the train station. I’m so grateful to both of them for being so generous, and I’ll definitely stay here again.

We stayed for two nights at this lovely little ryokan in Hakone and really enjoyed it. It’s a small place, which gave us a break from the crowds of tourists. Tsukinoya has two private baths, plus tatami floors and futons for sleeping. The owner couple were very friendly and helpful, and drove us to restaurants a few times 😊.

The owners were so kind and treated us like family. Their service was 10/10. They drove us wherever we wanted to go, from late-night dinners to sightseeing spots. I’d recommend this place 1000% and would stay again every time. For what you get, the price is unbeatable, and I’m really grateful we found it. It’s traditional accommodation with a beautiful private onsen.

This is a quiet mountain spot for getting away and relaxing in the hot onsen. It feels like a very traditional place, nothing like a typical hotel. The couple who run it are welcoming and friendly, and the owner gave us rides when we needed them. After the onsen, we enjoyed hot tea in a traditional room. The pillow and comforter were the most comfortable.
