After a day on the mountain, it was lovely to come back and relax in the onsen. The cabins were a short walk from happo-one lifts, with bus stops nearby for getting to the other resorts. We spent two amazing weeks in two of Darren's log cabins on a family snow trip, and there was plenty of room for all 12 of us and our boards, skis, and luggage. Darren was a great host, sharing local advice and helping with bookings and rides to restaurants or ski resorts. He even drove us back to Nagano train station when our stay ended. We can't wait to return.

The room was comfortable, with two beds, a small sofa and TV, plus a compact kitchen with a stove, microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. Big Bear Chalets is just two minutes from the lift station, which was a real plus for our last snow trip of the season. My main disappointment was the service: housekeeping only changed towels and emptied the bins, and I expected the rooms to be properly made up each day for the price. The attached bathroom also had no heating. Still, we had a great stay, but that's why I'm leaving off the fifth star.

The owners were always happy to arrange a ride when we needed one, including a few trips into town, which is a bit far away. We stayed for five days in August, and it was a quiet, cool, peaceful place to get away from Tokyo. The property was new, clean, well arranged, and stocked, and the service was extraordinarily friendly. There’s a lift about a five-minute walk away that takes you to a viewing spot and connects with other lifts for hiking. Evergreen Outdoor Company, Tokyu Hotel, The Beach Bar, and The Pub are also a few minutes on foot. The Pub had an awesome outdoor bar and firepit. We’d definitely go back.

Darren and Noemie went out of their way to make sure we had a great time in Hakuba. We stayed in the 2 Bedroom apartment on our first summer visit and loved every minute of it. Evergreen Outdoor Center, with lots of fun activities, is within walking distance. We’ll definitely come back to Hakuba and stay at one of Darren's property again!

The management were friendly and helpful, with a daily shuttle to grocery shops, ATMs, chemists, and other places. They also knew where to ski each day based on the weather and updates, and helped with tickets and discounted prices. The place itself was luxurious, warm, spacious, and homely, in a very central spot near pubs, ski rental, and restaurants. Very recommended! Thanks for a great experience 😁😁😁
