After skiing, it was lovely to soak in the bath and look out toward the trees and forest behind the house. The shared area with tea, coffee, water, and breakfast feels cozy and welcoming. Staff are really nice and helpful, and can arrange dinner bookings or transport to and from the train or bus station. It’s a great place if you’re keen to ski at Happo One, less than five minutes toward the Gondola, with a route that lets you ski almost straight back to the hotel.

We fell in love with this adorable, family-run hotel. The traditional bath was something to try, and the laundry and ski lockers were great. A few more hooks in the room would help. Our bathroom was tiny, with one faucet shared by the basin and shower, but somehow it worked. The staff went well beyond what we expected, helping us find and book restaurants and explaining how things worked. The main areas have interesting decor and were lovely to spend time in. Breakfast was minimal, which was my one disappointment, but tea, coffee, and water were available around the clock. It’s just up the road from the main gondola, and you can ski back down to an area just above the hotel.

The staff were incredibly accommodating, and the Gondola is just a five-minute walk away. In the morning there are free sandwiches and cereal, plus amazing coffee. This is a great hotel, and I’ll definitely be back!

Lovely people and great service all around. My son left his bag on the bulletin board train from Tokyo to Nango, and the staff arranged to have the backpack sent to the hotel. We had an amazing stay.

The foyer has a lovely wood-burning fireplace, and the lounge, with its plants, is a relaxing spot for coffee or a drink.
