Hotel Goryukan

Breakfast had plenty of fresh Western and Japanese options, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There's a shuttle you need to book a day ahead, and our driver was very friendly and knowledgeable. Plenty of the staff spoke English, too. Our room in the Hakuba Happo area was spacious, clean, and had a great view. The bathroom was a bit small, though nothing unusual. The public onsen was wonderful, especially the beautiful Roten outdoor bath. I'd recommend staying even for one night just to experience it. We'd love to come back to snowboard here.

We stayed 8 nights and had a great time. The staff were super friendly, the onsen was excellent, and breakfast had a good range. It's close to Iimori and the hakuba 47 bus stop, and a short walk from the local Happo lift, so the location worked perfectly. I'd suggest adding room TVs with streaming services like Netflix or phone projection. Thanks again, Hotel Goryukan, we'd absolutely stay here again.

The restaurant felt aimed at tourists, and the food lacked depth and character. The common areas and onsen also felt cold while we were there. Service was functional and very standard. Once, I came back from a medical appointment at 7:45 pm hoping to have dinner, but they wouldn't let me order anything. It's a basic hotel with little charm or atmosphere. It works as somewhere to stay, but I left without a memorable impression.

The breakfast was great, the Onsen was beautiful, and the rooms were good. Happo lift is only a five minute walk away. An easy 5/5, especially with those 200 yen massage chairs.
