K's House Hakuba Alps - Hostel

It felt like home, and it’s very close to several ski areas. The people and staff were wonderful, always smiling and ready to help with whatever I needed, including plans, recommendations, public transport, and skiing. The room and facilities were clean, warm, and comfortable. The shared spaces were lovely and had everything I needed. I’d highly recommend staying here.

K’s House Hakuba made a great base in rural Japan, and I’d recommend it to backpackers, solo travelers, and anyone after a welcoming country stay. It’s around 15 minutes’ walk from Kamishiro Station, though staff kindly gave me a lift in their shuttle. Toshi also lent me crampons for my mountain hike, which was a lifesaver. I arrived around midnight, but getting in was easy with the 24-hour access system and clear instructions, with my key ready. The staff were kind, informative, and spoke excellent English. The place is very clean and carefully organized, and as a digital nomad I loved the peaceful, cozy common area for working remotely.

We spent five nights at Kay's house and had a really pleasant time with the hosts. The room was clean and kept in great shape, and the kitchen and laundry facilities were very good. It was one of our best stays in Japan. We’d really recommend it to anyone wanting to hike and explore Hakuba.

It was my first ski trip, and I was traveling solo, but Toshi’s advice and recommendations made the experience smooth and unforgettable. I had a great couple of nights at K's House Hakuba. The location was great, and the facilities were clean.
