Koharu Resort Hotel & Suites

Sam, Tahlia, and Jesse deserve a special shoutout for their kindness and help. We had an amazing stay at Koharu Hotel, with spotless rooms, a cozy atmosphere, and staff who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Highly recommend.

The snow was fantastic, pure powder, and the hotel is close to the easy Ski Fields. It also has its own ski hire shop and is near lots of great restaurants, especially rabbit hole! A special thank you to Tony, the Hotel Manager, who personally drove me into town to find a last-minute Christmas present for my son. It turned out great, and I can’t thank you enough.

Koharu is just a two-minute walk from Sakka slope, which was super convenient even though it’s a little outside the main Happo area. We had a fantastic stay in a clean, spacious studio with everything needed for self-sufficient living. Underfloor heating, room heating, indoor drying racks, and individual ski lockers were all big pluses. The staff were friendly, engaging, and went out of their way to explain Hakuba and the services from HHG (Hakuba Hotel Group). Across the Hakuba valley there’s a wide range of tasty restaurants and lovely accommodation, with great transport for HHG guests to the local shop and around Hakuba. The transport made things stress-free without taxis or Ubers, and the drivers were fantastic. We felt safe even on slippery, snowy roads. I absolutely recommend Koharu for your next stay, and I know we’ll be back.

We booked a large, clean one-bedroom apartment with heated floors and toilet. The kitchen had what we needed, apart from salt and pepper. Staff were lovely and helpful, and spoke good English. There’s a supermarket trip at 4:30 PM every day, but you need to book ahead. The Hakuba 47 shuttle stops in front of the hotel, and it’s a three-minute walk to Sakka slope near the Happo-one chairlift. A bus stop there also serves other ski resorts. Buses in Hakuba start at 8 AM. There are a few restaurants nearby, and you’ll need reservations. We struggled to get into one for dinner, so we were glad to have bought food at the supermarket and cooked most of our dinners and breakfasts in the apartment. Consider renting a car, too, since shuttles can be crowded and a car makes it easier to reach restaurants in town that don’t require reservations.
