We’re all happy staying here. The rooms are roomy, quiet thanks to good insulation, and have big windows with great views. Everything’s so clean and tidy. The beds are a little softer than I like, but still really comfortable.

Having a car makes this a more workable budget stay for a winter ski trip. The bus to Happo One, Goryu, and Happo 47 stops right out front, and there’s a 7-eleven next door. The place is clean and warm, and the beds were comfy. Without a car, it’s not walkable. There are very few restaurant choices unless you walk 20 minutes, and there’s no breakfast or other nearby food option beyond 7-eleven. There aren’t nearby buses to Tsugaike or Cortina either, so you’re limited to Happo One or Goryu unless you walk 20 minutes to the echoland bus stop. The rooms also aren’t soundproof. There’s a 2.5 cm gap under the door, and we were woken by drunk aussies at 1 am. The staff weren’t particularly helpful. It isn’t a bad place, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a winter ski trip unless you want cheaper accommodation and have a car.

The best thing for us was being able to bring our dog along for tracking, since this inn allows pets. The breakfast was great too. It’s run by a young couple, and the bed, covers, and sheets were all really nice quality.

In the heavenly Hakuba valley, this cozy place gave us a really genuine experience in Japan. The manager and staff were wonderful, helpful, and accommodating. Breakfast came with homemade bread and freshly ground coffee every day. Couldn’t have asked for more.
