Pension R-Azteca

A cozy spot in a really cool neighborhood, with cafes, restaurants, and pubs mixed in among interesting cottages. The hosts are very sweet and helpful, and the place exceeded my expectations.

Kazu-san was friendly, quick to respond, and helpful. We enjoyed chatting with her, and she even gave us rides to and from the bus terminal. My husband and I loved our stay and would come back. We booked a spacious, comfortable double room with a private bathroom. The facilities were very nice, quiet, and super clean. It’s also a great location, within walking distance of restaurants and less than a 10-minute walk to the ski resort shuttle stop.

Kazuko-san picked us up at Hakuba JR station and was very accommodating throughout, doing her best to make our stay smooth and enjoyable. The guest house is a little far from the slopes, but a shuttle bus stop is just a 5-minute walk away. There’s also a well-stocked 7-11 about 10 minutes from the accommodation. I stayed in a Japanese-style room with tatami flooring and futon beds, and loved it. Breakfast was delicious, a homely Japanese-style meal. I’d absolutely stay here again. Say hi to Kazuko-san for me!

The owners were incredibly nice and accommodating, and I’d happily stay here again. It’s a renovated house with a cozy ski lodge feel. From here, it’s easy to walk downtown for food or catch a shuttle to the slopes. There’s also a drying room downstairs for airing out your gear. I really enjoyed the few days I spent in town.
