Petit Hotel Anise Garden

The owner made our stay special with how kind and helpful he was throughout. He even carried all our heavy suitcases upstairs. We slept really comfortably, and the private onsen was amazing after a long day skiing. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance, plus a 7-Eleven about ten minutes down the road, so we had everything nearby. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you so much again, we’re truly grateful!

We stayed two nights during the '25 winter season. The owner was friendly and gave us rental discounts to hakuba 47. After skiing, the on-site onsen was a great place to relax. The bedding is real down, and the in-room heater helped me get a great night's sleep. It's within talking distance of a 7/11 and restaurants, and a cheap Uber ride to downtown Hakuba. The owner offered to drive us to the bus stop at checkout, which I really appreciated. The noise isolation is so-so, though people are generally polite and quiet. Great stay overall, would come back!

What stood out was the owners’ traditional hospitality and the meticulous, organized Japanese style that made us feel respected and well cared for. They were incredibly friendly, and the host spoke quite good English, so conversation felt smooth and warm. He was helpful from the moment we arrived. When we headed out to ski, he guided us straight to the free shuttle and gave very precise directions. He also gave us local discount vouchers and explained that buying lift tickets online with them was cheaper than at the resort, which saved us money and hassle. In the evenings, he’d ask how our day went and talk about snow conditions. He even gave us two local magazines to help find nearby restaurants.

Anise Garden feels beautiful and cosy, just like home. After a long day sightseeing, I loved relaxing in the small private onsen, which has both indoor and outdoor sections. The owners were friendly and helpful, offered great advice, and even gave us wine for our anniversary. I highly recommend staying here.
