The location worked well, about a five-minute walk from the station, with restaurants and convenience stores close by. My semi-double smoking room was spacious and had a microwave, which was handy for heating food from a convenience store. I booked one night through Agoda for almost ¥4000. Finding the entrance was tricky since it’s on the sixth floor, and there’s no parking. Nobody was at the front desk when I arrived, so I had to ring a small bell to get someone from the little room beside it. The staff weren’t very friendly, especially the man wearing sunglasses.

I’d been wary because of the reviews and ratings, but my stay turned out pretty well. The room was clean and roomy, with everything I needed, including a kettle, microwave, mini fridge and hair dryer. The staff were helpful, and some could understand and speak English. One person spoke fluent Hindi, and I had a great time chatting with him.

The halls and rooms smelled strongly of smoke, so I wouldn’t recommend this place for children or nonsmokers. There was a lot of mold on the shower curtain and bathroom walls, and the walls had plenty of marks and needed a proper cleaning. It was also hard to find reception. They need a sign outside and clearer directions online: go through the glass doors, turn right, then take the elevators up to the hotel.

There’s a lot of choice at breakfast, and I used the coin laundry during my stay. My room was a good size for one person and looked out over a garden. The location is great, right beside the Shinkansen station, with shops, restaurants and hotels nearby. Hamamatsu castle is also within walking distance.
