Guest House Gifuhashima Cocone

I originally booked one night and ended up staying seven nights across several visits. The dorm feels like sharing a decent-sized hotel room, but the bed setup still gives you your own private space. The house has everything you need, and the staff are great and helpful. Thanks to the Cocone Team, Mr. Hiko, and Miki.

The rooms were clean and the amenities were kept up. They had my dorm pod ready in about 10 minutes. A good place to stay in Gifu or just stop for a night.

There’s a pleasant lounge, a full kitchen, and the bathrooms are clean and well maintained. The cheerful staff are happy to help, and the free bikes came in handy for trips to nearby supermarkets. For the low price, you get more than expected if you’re not fussy. The building is noisy, though. From my top bunk I could hear people walking around above me, and I slept badly some nights. The rooms also run a little hot. Mostly, it’s fine, and I can’t complain much for what it costs.

Cocone Guest House is about a three-minute walk from Shin-Hashima Station, with a konbini less than a minute away. There’s coin laundry downstairs, parking if you drive, and free bikes to borrow. The owner and staff were welcoming, and we spent a lot of time talking because we shared interests. The bed was comfortable, the toilet was very clean, and the common room has a kitchen and snacks for sale. I was very satisfied with my two-night vacation stay and would probably come back on another short trip to Gifu.
