Miyahama Grand Hotel

The hot spring was clean and pleasant, though the water itself was mediocre. Our room was neat and orderly, with free yukatas in the closet to use. We got a ride from the train station in a van, and were offered complimentary tea in the lobby.

The big bath was being renovated during our visit, so the hotel gave us vouchers for the public bath down the street. Staff picked us up from the nearest JR station, Ōnoura (Ōnoura), in the evening and drove us back there in the morning. They also provided coupons for luggage watching at Miyajimaguchi for our Miyajima visit. Our Japanese-style room was gorgeous, with ocean views, tatami mats in both bedrooms and the small tea room, a bathroom with a tub, and two toilets. The complimentary green tea and local cream-filled cookies were a treat, especially while sitting in the tea room.

The onsen was amazing, and the stay felt like a real Japanese experience. We found this hidden gem after visiting the shrine at Mijayima, and they really delivered. The staff seemed happy to welcome foreigners, which not every place in Japan does. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, even for me, though I usually don't like seafood. We could see the oyster farm from the restaurant. Our room was spacious and clean, and everyone was very nice. They even picked us up at the nearest train station after we got lost. 10/10, I'd recommend it.

The rooms were clean and traditional, and the staff were very welcoming. They offered a shuttle to the nearest station. The onsen was under construction, but they provided free tickets for a nearby one. There's no konbini nearby, so come prepared.
