I visited in the evening and found the large parking lot dim and a little scary. There were wild monkeys wandering around too, so watch out. The hot springs were great, and the clean facility had a comfortable tatami rest area and even massage chairs. With the Yumeguri Passport, you can bathe for half price. I wasn’t expecting much, sorry, but it turned out better than I thought. The indoor bath is a luxurious natural hot spring with no added water. Tiny bubbles covered me as soon as I stepped in, giving a refreshing popping feeling, and the water warmed me right through. The sauna was refreshing too.

The attached Manga Kingdom has manga guests can take to their rooms, so you can lounge in bed all day with what feels like the ultimate internet cafe experience. The manga in the hallway by the accommodation used to be in the main building lobby. And if you get a strange feeling in the second-to-last stall in the men's restroom on the third floor, or think you see a woman in a white dress in the first-floor manga corner early in the morning, it’s surely your imagination. I keep coming back several times a year, even though it’s the furthest hot spring resort in Gifu Prefecture from Nagoya. That’s mostly down to my personal preference. The building is showing its age, but its simple feel makes it a relaxing place. You can spend a day trip enjoying a leisurely, wasteful use of time, though I’d recommend staying overnight if you can. The meals use mostly local ingredients, come in generous portions and are very satisfying. They’re delicious too. I do miss the jacuzzi, which has been out of order ever since. A new facility might be expected to have one, but I liked it. On the other hand, perhaps it makes for a quieter soak.

It was my first time there, and I was wandering around trying to figure out where the hot spring was, lol. A shop owner showed me the way, 100 points for that! The bath was private and amazing, with a beautiful view and a great open-air bath. For just 700 yen, it was excellent value.

There’s lots of manga to read, and guests staying at the neighboring Manga Kingdom can use the facilities. Check in early and leave late if you want plenty of time to enjoy it. There weren’t many other guests, so it was peaceful and quiet. The rest areas are spacious, and a bath followed by some downtime left me feeling refreshed. The baths themselves are on the small side, though, and it’s disappointing that there’s no open-air bath. I stayed at Manga Kingdom, where the food was delicious and plentiful, and I was very satisfied.

I came here with my family as a child, then returned for the first time in over 10 years. The hot spring is inside Hida Manga Kingdom. Admission is 600 yen per adult, and the manga corner, Manga Kingdom, costs 400 yen. It’s free for elementary school students and younger. The bathtub looked pretty old, lol. The sauna and baths are all small, and the washing area is cramped for the number of people using it. I went around midday on a weekday and it was completely booked, so it wasn’t an issue then. The water temperature was comfortable, neither too hot nor too lukewarm. The alkaline spring felt lukewarm when I got in, and compared with the hot springs the water also seemed a little lukewarm. The restaurant is only open from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. I’d hoped to eat there, but arrived around 2:30 PM, so I couldn’t. What a shame. I’ll definitely come back!
